Medicine Bow National Forest, near Laramie, offers some of Wyoming's best hiking, fly fishing, camping, climbing and skiing.

The forest has abundant elk, black bear, bobcat, mountain lion and mule deer populations.

The forest has several distinctive rock formations, including Vedauwoo Rocks and Devil's Playground, a jumbled pile of granite boulders.

Libby Flats Observation Point overlooks the Snowy Range and the Continental Divide. The Snowy Range Scenic Byway threads its way through the forest by picnic spots, campsites and beautiful mountain views.

The byway is usually open from late May through October. From the byway, hikers can hike a trail to Medicine Bow Peak, at 12,013 feet the highest in the forest.

Fishing the Medicine Bow National Forest means trout fishing. Rainbow, brook, brown, golden, cutthroat and splake abound in the forest's lakes, streams and beaver ponds.

Administratively, the Medicine Bow is part of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grass Land.
