Seventy-acre Palisade Reservoir, southeast of Manti, attracts swimmers, sailors, sailboarders and paddlers. Fishermen cast for rainbow, tiger and cutthroat trout. The only motorized craft permitted on the lake are electric trawling motors.
The park has a sandy beach, a grassy picnic area shaded by cottonwoods and a 55-site campground. Its slopes are home to mule deer, hares and squirrels, and a variety of birds, including the Western tanager.
The area offers a walking trail around the lake and hiking and off-highway vehicle riding in adjacent Sixmile Canyon.
Those who want to sightsee by car take Skyline Drive, a 10,000-foot-high drive through the Wasatch Plateau.
