Tucked away in Utah's beautiful Wasatch Mountains, this state park in Heber Valley is both a summer and winter wonderland.
The 36-hole golf course is the park's leading attraction, but when snow transforms the course in winter, cross-country skiers come for the groomed track. There are also 100 miles of groomed trails for snowmobiles, which can be rented at the park.
In summer, mountain bikers enjoy 35 miles of trails. Horseback riding is permitted, and guided rides can be arranged through a nearby private concession.
The park's two hiking trails include a 2.6-mile interpretive walk geared to children in the campground and a more challenging three-mile trail. Hikers are welcome anywhere in the park and need not stay on the established paths.
The park is home to deer, elk, mountain lions, black bear, bobcats, coyotes and fox, and moose are frequent visitors to the golf course. The wetlands and pond draw Canada geese, western grebes, wood ducks, mallards and sandhill cranes. Wild turkeys are a common sight.
There is no fee to use the park, but visitors to the 139-site campground and its facilities, including the interpretive trail, are charged.
The park is just minutes away from the resort community of Park City.
