The Yuba Special Recreation Management Area, in central Utah, offers a variety of water-related recreational activities, including sandy beaches, nearby off-highway vehicle areas, and fishing for walleye and yellow perch.
At an elevation of 5,100 feet, the Yuba area is 25 miles south of Nephi, just off Interstate 15.
The reservoir, when full, is 22 miles long and reaches a maximum depth of 80 feet. This recreation area is cooperatively managed by Utah State Parks and Recreation and the federal Bureau of Land Management.
Oasis Campground offers a 19-unit campground and seven overflow sites, covered group pavilions with picnic tables, a group camping area, drinking water, modern restrooms and showers, an RV sewage disposal station, loading docks, and boat launching ramp. Accessible rest rooms, showers, electrical hookups and a campsite are available for campground patrons with special needs.
The North and West Beach areas offer primitive camping along the shoreline. Facilities include garbage collection points, restrooms, fire pits, picnic tables, and a entrance/fee collection station. These beaches provide public access to the reservoir for day use and overnight camping. Day use fees and campsite rentals are charged.
The Eagle View Beach area is a 20 unit, boat-in only campground, with covered tables, tent pads, restrooms, garbage collection points, fire pits, solar lighting, and reserve able boat docks. Fees are charged for day use and camping. This area is accessible by water craft only; no motorized vehicles are allowed.
The Painted Rocks area is located on the east side of the lake off Highway 28 between Levan and Gunnison. This area offers a large day use area, three-ane concrete boat ramp, a group campsite and 41 individual paved campsites with covered tables. This campground also includes tent pads, restrooms, a garbage collection point, and fire pits. This campground is easily accessible off Highway 28 between Levan and Gunnison. It is controlled from one entrance station. Day use and camping fees are charged.
Water temperatures here reach 70 to 75 degrees F during summer, making the reservoir extremely popular for boating, waterskiing, personal watercraft, windsurfing, sailing, and swimming. Two boat ramps, one at Yuba State Park and one at Painted Rocks, provide access for all types of watercraft. The reservoir is a year-round fishery for walleye, perch, catfish, rainbow trout, and northern pike. Other activities include camping, hiking, picnicking, rock hounding, bird watching, mountain biking, waterfowl hunting in season, and off-highway vehicle riding nearby.
Reservations are available for group-use and individual campsites. Campsites may be made three days in advance of arrival date and up to 16 weeks in advance from park departure date. Group reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance.
