The Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge covers more than 17,992 acres between two small mountain ranges. The warm salt springs of the area feed the refuge's 10,000-acre marsh system.
The refuge is a lush habitat for birds and fish in the middle of the Great Basin desert. Waterfowl that use the refuge include snowy egrets, black-crowned night herons, white-faced ibises, eared grebes and many species of ducks.
Driving to Fish Springs requires a long drive on gravel roads with no nearby gas stations. It is a three-hour drive from the Salt Lake City. The route with the fewest dirt roads is via Hwy. 174 from Delta.
