Steinaker State Park is a desert oasis.
At an elevation of 5,500 feet, the park offers sandy beaches where camping, swimming, boating, windsurfing and waterskiing top the list of recreational activities.
There is year-round fishing is for rainbow trout and largemouth bass along with fish cleaning stations.
Hiking and biking trails are nearby as is the Green River for rafters.
Within a short drive are Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Ashley National Forest and Dinosaur National Monument. Red Fleet State Park and Utah Field House of Natural History State Park are also in the region.
This 2,238-acre state park is seven miles north of Vernal, just off Utah Hwy. 191 in northeastern Utah.
A boat launch ramp, modern rest rooms, sewage disposal station, 31 individual campsites and two group-use pavilions are available.
