The Little Sahara Recreation Area offers 60,000 acres of moving sand dunes, sagebrush flats and juniper hills.

The varied terrain provides a haven not only for the off-highway vehicle driver, but also for nature seekers, campers, picnickers and children who delight in an oversized sandbox.

Facilities include a visitor center, the Oasis Campground with four paved loops, 114 camping units and an adjacent trailer dump station. The White Sands Campground has three graded loops and 99 individual camping units and a sand play area for children.

All campgrounds offer drinking water, rest rooms, picnic tables and charcoal grills. In addition, the Jericho picnic area features a large enclosed sand play area.

Parking loops near Sand Mountain, with its 700-foot near-vertical face suits campers who prefer undeveloped areas (water and rest rooms are available). Miles of desert solitude are also available throughout Little Sahara for campers who want remote campsites.

In addition to the challenges available for off-highway vehicle drivers, Little Sahara presents endless other recreation opportunities. Day hikes through the Rockwell Natural Area can provide a glimpse of desert wildlife and unique plants. The dunes are a sunbather’s paradise, and those who are creatively inclined may want to try castle-building. Photographers enjoy the interesting shadows and sand dune patterns and beautiful sunsets.

Little Sahara Recreation Area is located 115 miles south of Salt Lake City just off of U.S. Hwy. 6. It is 28 miles west of Nephi and approximately 38 miles from Delta.
