Cooper Lake State Park in northeast Texas has two units, Doctors Creek Unit in Delta County and the larger South Sulphur Unit in northern Hopkins County.
The 19,300-acre Cooper Lake is a young park. Embankment construction on the South Sulphur River began in 1986 and the parks opened in 1996.

Anglers appreciate the six- and two-lane boat ramps, three fish cleaning tables and two lighted fishing piers.
Five miles of multi-use trails serve both hikers and mountain bikers. For equestrians there are eleven miles of trails.
A swimming beach is part of the 25.5 miles of shoreline. A playground, a pavilion and picnic sites with tables, grills and water are also available.
Campsites include those with water and electricity, walk-in tent sites with water, equestrian campsites with water and electricity and primitive camping. There are also cabins, screened shelters, and cottages.
