This 5,000-acre park is located in western Tennessee near the Mississippi border at the junction of the Tuscumbia River and the Hatchie State Scenic River.
The park appeals to a variety of outdoors enthusiasts. Hiking is popular, with more than 32 miles of moderate of overnight and day use trails running through stands of hardwood and wetlands. Four backpack trail shelters can be found on the park. Five miles of hiking trail and two trail shelters lies south of railroad, within the hunting area.
A mile-long boardwalk into the Dismal Swamp brings visitors face to face with a variety of wildlife, including wild turkeys and deer. Ospreys have also been seen in the park.
Thirty tent sites with picnic tables and grills are available at the campground.
Horses are permitted on secondary roads within the park.
Anglers try for bream, catfish and largemouth bass in McNatt Fishing Lake. Trolling motors are permitted. Canoeists also enjoy the 165-acre lake.
A scenic attraction is quiet, cypress-lined Big Hill Pond, created during levee construction for the Memphis-Charleston Railroad, now the Southern Railroad.
