Montgomery Bell State Park is tucked in the hills of Dickson County where iron ore was once mined and forests were cleared for farms.

Today, a beautiful hardwood forest presides over the landscape.

The park contains three lakes. Lake Acorn offers rental boats from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In autumn, private boats without outboard motors are permitted. Lake Woodhaven has a year-round boat launch for boats with electric motors only. Creech Hollow Lake is not open for boating. All three lakes have good fishing.

Tennessee hill country is good for hiking and biking, and a mountain bike trail is available.

The 19 miles of hiking trails include more than 11 miles of trails for backpackers with three year-round shelters. A camping permit must be secured at the visitor center for a shelter.

There is also a challenging 18-hole course open year-round.

Campers enjoy tent, trailer and RV sites and two pull-through wheelchair-accessible sites. Housekeeping cottages, a park inn and restaurant are also available year-round.
