Located south of Jackson in western Tennessee, Chickasaw State Park covers 1,280 acres abutting state forest land.
The park offers plenty to do. Close to 100 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails wind through the park and into the adjacent forest.
Horse trails and a horse campground, called the Wrangler campsite, are popular.
Fishing is great for bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill. Paddle boats can be rented. Private boats and motorized boats are not allowed.
There are facilities for swimming, picnicking, tennis, archery and all kinds of ball games. A new golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus is also available.
Overnight accommodations include 13 housekeeping cottages, an RV campground, a tent campground and the horse campground. All come with tables, grills, modern bathhouses and playgrounds. Camping is allowed only in established campgrounds.
