Silver Falls, 26 miles east of the state capital, is Oregon's largest state park, at 9,064 acres.
Composed of two densely wooded canyons in the Cascade foothills, the park's star attraction is a seven-mile hiking trail that leads to 10 waterfalls. Five falls are more than 100 feet high and South Falls is the highest, at 177 feet.
Over night accommodations include rental cabins, 52 R.V. sites, 54 tent sites, three tent group camping areas, two trailer group areas, and two large, rustic, group buildings that hold 75 people. Equestrians can enjoy six different choices of corrals and campsites near the 14 miles of riding trails.
Day-users include picnickers and swimmers who dip into the shallow impoundment at the Silver Creek dam.
