Close enough to smell the salt air of the Pacific, this park's campground is sheltered in a grove of shore pine.
Visitors discover a wide range of facilities, including 13 yurts, a hiking or biking camp, an 8-site horse camp, 102 full hookups and 83 electrical hookups.
From the registration booth in the campground, meander for more than a mile on a paved pathway through fields and lowland forest across a plain to the sandy dunes of the beach. Crabbing is permitted.
Along the path are great views of the Coquille River. Across the river is Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, sporting a variety of resident and migrating wildlife.
The Coquille River Lighthouse is at the end of the park. It is staffed in summer with volunteers who lead tours to the tower.
From the lighthouse, there are 4.5 miles of open beach to explore. Many mountain bikers enjoy the hard-packed sand along the edge of the surf.
