At 800 acres, Roman Nose Resort Park is Oklahoma’s smallest state park with a lodge. But with its unusual white gypsum formations, rich Cheyenne and Arapaho history and extensive recreational offerings, Roman Nose is a choice recreation destination.
Horseback tours transport visitors back to the 1800s. Rides begin with a short riding lesson and vary in length and focus.
Boating, golfing, swimming, tennis, archery, hayrides and hiking are also available.
Anglers find plenty of black bass, catfish, crappie and trout.
Roman Nose Canyon is home to white-tailed deer, raccoons, bobcats and coyotes as well as several species of birds. It is not uncommon to glimpse the scissor-tail flycatcher, Oklahoma’s state bird, and the mountain boomer, the state reptile, here.
Overnight visitors can stay at the lodge, rent a teepee or cabin, or camp in a variety of campsites.
