The Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge is located on the eastern edge of the Central Flyway and the western edge of the Mississippi Flyway.
As a result, Tewaukon serves as a mixing area for migratory birds from both flyways.
Native prairie plants abound, providing food for migratory birds. More than 240 species of birds have been found on the refuge, and the area also supports prairie butterflies.
A picnic area with grills, tables and toilets is available.
A wheelchair-accessible boat ramp and fishing dock are also available.
