Lake Taghkanic is a great camping destination in the Taconic Region. The park covers 1,569 acres, including a 156-acre lake. Facilities include tent and trailer campsites, as well as cabins and cottages. The camping season extends from mid-May until mid-October.
The park offers picnic areas, boating, a basketball court, beach volleyball courts, two playgrounds, ice skating, fishing, and 10 miles of trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Bow hunting for deer is allowed seasonally.
Swimming is permitted on two beaches, and there are rowboat and paddleboat rentals, and pavilion that can be reserved.
The park is located off the Taconic State Parkway, and State Route 82, 11 miles southeast of Hudson.
