The Nature Conservancy rated the region that includes Minnewaska State Park Preserve as one of the "75 last great places in the Western Hemisphere." The park offers year-round, numerous recreational activities, including swimming, deer hunting, cross-country skiing, hiking on 56 miles and biking on 25 miles of trails and carriage roads. The birdwatching is also outstanding. The park is a major flyway for migratory, waterfowl and raptor bird species. The park also has an old hydroelectric plant that is no longer in use, several farm sites and homesteads. Outdoor Activities		Cross-country skiing is popular at Minnewaska State Park Preserve.
