The Siamese Ponds Wilderness covers approximately 112,000 acres of rolling mountains, lush forests and sparkling ponds in the southeastern region of Adirondack Park.
The area is bounded roughly by state routes 8, 28 and 30 along the south, east and west and Indian Lake on the north. Major trailheads are at the end of Old Farm Clearing Road and at Kings Flow, south of the village of Indian Lake. Hikers use the 11th Mountain (Route 8) trailhead to access the Siamese Ponds.
The area supports white-tailed deer, black bears, coyotes, bobcats, beavers, otters and mink. Loons, ospreys and bald eagles also live here.
Anglers come for brook trout, lake trout and panfish. Thirteenth Lake is stocked with brown trout, tiger trout, splake and landlocked salmon, however, it is not recommended for those seeking a "true wilderness experience," as its easy access and scenic views make for very busy summer weekends.
Thirty-three miles of marked trails wind through the wilderness. Among the tent sites and lean-tos in the tract are 21 established tent sites along Thirteenth Lake. Indian Lake has a boat launch that is adjacent to the Siamese Ponds Wilderness.
