The largest of New York's state parks, Allegany contains 65,000 acres of public lands with a wide range of recreational activities for all seasons.
There are 18 trails offering 80 miles of hiking, more than 25 miles of cross-country skiing and 90 miles of snowmobile trails.
Allegany State Park is also home to the famous Bear Cave trail. Guided tours of the trail's numerous bear caves and rock caverns are available.
The park has two recreation areas situated around two large lakes. Enjoy a peaceful paddling trip around Red House Lake, where motor craft are prohibited.
Park campgrounds offer 424 tent sites and the lush forests contain 375 cabins, many open year-round in the Quacker and Red House areas.
Fishing is available in streams, ponds and lakes, including Quaker Lake, which offers year-round trout fishing.
Each February, the park sponsors a Winter Funfest with snowshoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling events and in June the WNYMBA Raccoon Rally Mountain Bike Festival.
