Caumsett State Historic Park, situated on a scenic peninsula extending into Long Island Sound, remains essentially undeveloped.
The year-round park offers miles of bridle paths and hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh.
The park has excellent fishing as well.
Nearby attractions include Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, Coe Hall Historic House Museum, the Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site, Caleb Smith State Park Preserve and Bethpage State Park.
