At 8,500 feet, Hyde is New Mexico's highest state park and it is located within miles of the city of Santa Fe.
Named after noted naturalist and educator Benjamin Hyde, the 350-acre park encompasses a rich, diverse ecosystem. Bald eagles have been spotted in the park, as well as other raptors, hummingbirds and a variety of jays.
There are about five miles of hiking trails, some of them strenuous, with elevation gains of 1,000 feet.
The park is popular for camping. Hikers also use the park as a base for backpacking treks into national forest land nearby.
Sledding and tubing are available in winter.
The park is eight miles northeast of Santa Fe Plaza off Hyde Park Road.
