The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park encompasses a 77-mile canal corridor and Bull's Island, an 83-acre forested island.
The island, located at canal's head, is reached by auto bridge from New Jersey and by footbridge from Pennsylvania. It is New Jersey's second most-visited birdwatching spot, due in part to the endangered cliff swallows that nest under the footbridge.
There are 69 campsites on the island, including a few secluded walk-in sites.
Listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, the canal is now used by canoeists and boaters, with no gas engines allowed. There is fishing but no swimming.
A multiple-use trail runs along the canal for its full length, popular for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.
