Open Year-Round No Entry Fee Charged

In 1993, the pristine Maurice and Manumuskin rivers and Menantico and Muskee creeks were designated a national scenic and recreational river corridor.

Towns and cities along the corridor pledged to protect the riverfront from development to protect its natural, cultural and recreational resources.

The corridor, which empties into Delaware Bay in southern New Jersey, is an important Atlantic flyway stopover for shorebirds, songbirds, waterfowl, raptors and rails.

It is also home to the endangered joint vetch, shortnose sturgeon and striped bass. The area supports the state's largest stand of wild rice and is a critical link between the Pinelands National Reserve and the Delaware Estuary.

Public access to the river is available at Millville's Fowser Road Boat Ramp or at nearby marinas.

Visitors can get their National Park Service Passports stamped at the Park Service Office at 200 Chestnut St. 3rd Floor in Philadelphia. Officials recommend you call ahead to see if the park specialist, Paul Kenney, is available.

Outdoor Activities

The river is a valuable recreational and ecological resource.
