Located about 10 miles from the little town of Anaconda, the state park at Lost Creek preserves a wealth of wild attractions.
Lost Creek Falls is a 50-foot cascade that is one of the most popular and scenic spots in the park. A short, wheelchair-accessible trail leads to the falls.
Patient wildlife watchers can usually spot mountain goats and bighorn sheep on the cliffs above the park. There are also interpretive displays about these species.
Of geological interest is a granitic dike, an unusual formation that appears as a colored band of rock across a cliff face.
The park has 25 campsites, equipped with tables and grills. One campsite and one latrine in the upper campground are wheelchair-accessible.
Hikers and mountain bikers use an old service road that begins in the park and leads to USFS land in the mountains.
An old miner's cabin in the park and abandoned ore processing equipment back in the mountains interest history buffs.
To reach the park, travel east from Anaconda on State Hwy. 1 for 1.5 miles, then head two miles north on Secondary 273, and finally six miles west on the gravel road.
All those who are not Montana residents must pay a park entry fee. Montana residents may use the park for free.
