Bounded by the Lolo National Forest, northeast of Missoula and west of the Continental Divide, is Placid Lake State Park.
Placid Lake, as the name implies, is known for its smooth water and good trout fishing. Campers, boaters, anglers, photographers, picnickers and swimmers all take advantage of this delightful park.
This region was once a logging area and the massive western larch stumps remind visitors of the hard work involved in logging. Interpretive exhibits at the park detail the region's history and forestry industry.
Campsites, restrooms, boat ramp, fishing dock and the information kiosk are wheelchair-accessible. Showers are available.
All those who are not Montana residents must pay a park entry fee. Montana residents may use the park for free. All campers must pay a fee.
