In northern Montana, a little more than 25 miles west of Glacier National Park, is Whitefish State Park.
Whitefish Lake is popular for fishing, swimming and boating, and the lack of wind makes it ideal for waterskiing.
The campground and beach are pleasantly secluded in this woodland park. There are wheelchair-accessible campsites. The park now has a group campsite for bikers and hikers.
Wildlife viewing and photography are favorite pastimes. Picnic areas and a variety of campsites with shower and toilet facilities make this a friendly and low-key vacation spot.
All those who are not Montana residents must pay a park entry fee. Montana residents may use the park for free.
