Deep in the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by Lolo National Forest, is Salmon Lake State Park.
Salmon Lake, east of Missoula, is part of a chain of lakes near Clearwater River. Tall ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and woodland larch encircle the lake where boating, fishing and water sports are popular.
The 42-acre park provides interpretive programs and displays, picnic areas and endless opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
There's volleyball and horseshoes along with fishing and swimming.
Campers choose from tent, trailer and RV sites. Toilets and showers are available.
All those who are not Montana residents must pay a park entry fee. Montana residents may use the park for free. All campers must pay a fee.
