The eight sites within the Bowdoin district protect waterfowl habitat in Valley, Phillips, Blaine and Hill counties.
The district's terrain varies from pothole concentrations to plains.
The McNeil Slough Waterfowl Production Area is a large, critical area along the Milk River. A flow-through water system allows staff to control water levels and control the site, something that is nonexistent on other Bowdoin units.
The Pearce site is adjacent to Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge.
Beaver Creek is located just east of Bowdoin and contains the main outlet canal for moving Bowdoin water to Beaver Creek. Other areas are farther from Bowdoin and do not receive as much staff attention or public use.
All areas, except for Holm in Blaine County, are open to hunting. Access is usually limited to walk-in hunting only.
A wheelchair-accessible wildlife observation and hunting blind is available at Pearce.
All areas are accessible from graveled or paved county roads.
