Sakatah is one of Minnesota's most popular parks, offering a mix of hiking, bicycling, skiing, fishing, boating and canoeing.
The park includes part of the Big Woods and parts of the Upper Sakatah and Lower Sakatah Lakes. The hardwood forests are a deep green maze in summer, with an extensive network of foot trails. An old railway grade provides a 39-mile bicycle path from Mankato to Faribault.
There is boat, canoe and kayak access to Sakatah Lake.
The lake has significant stocks of walleye, bass and panfish.
