Tettegouche's 9,300 acres contain six lakes, ancient cedar swamps, ancient oak stands and a wave-swept portion of Lake Superior.
The state park is prime land for hiking, backpacking, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing and cross-country skiing.
The steep hardwood forests of the North Shore Highlands are brilliant in the fall. There are 16 miles of trails, including a hilly trail that runs along the Baptism River to the 70-foot High Falls. Anglers work the stream for trout and salmon.
Palisade Head towers 200 feet above Lake Superior and offers one of Minnesota's finest vistas and prime rock-climbing faces.
On Lake Superior, waves crash and spill curtains of water over large boulders and cobblestone beaches.
The park's rich bird life includes grouse, bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks.
There are 28 drive-in campsites, one drive-in cabin, six walk-in-sites, two group sites, and 13 cart-in sites. Remote cabins are located next to Mic Mac Lake.
