The Morris district is dotted with thousands of small wetlands known as prairie potholes created by glaciers.
Refuge visitors can observe waterfowl, prairie chickens and other prairie wildlife. The area hosts nesting and migratory waterfowl primarily mallard, blue-winged teal and wood duck and a variety of neotropical songbirds.
Visitor area displays explain waterfowl migration, native prairie, land use, wetlands and prairie ducks. The office is located four miles east of Morris on County Road 10.
A hiking trail, with some wheelchair-accessible sections, leads to an observation deck.
Self-guided auto tours, designed to teach about wildlife practices on private land, are available from May through October. Interpretive programs are available upon request.
All waterfowl production areas are open to hunting and trapping.
Bird-watching and nature photography are also popular.
