Swim, fish, or boat in Split Rock Lake, the largest body of water in Pipestone County. You can also camp or hike in this scenic park, located in the Coteau des Prairies ("highlands of the prairie") Landscape Region.
Stop by the Beach Side Trail Center for an excellent view and to discover more about the area. Late summer offers visitors a panorama of prairie colors when different wildflowers bloom and grasses grow.
Both lake and prairie animals can be found in the park. Meadowlarks, beavers and waterfowl inhabit the lakeshore while woodpeckers, fox squirrels and other woodland animals are seen in the southern end of the park.
Seven miles north of the park is the famous Pipestone National Monument.
