Many Minnesota streams have carved bluffs and valleys out of dolomite and sandstone on their way to the Mississippi River. Among them is Beaver Creek, known for its trophy-sized brown trout.
The creek's cold waters and shady woodlands keep Beaver Creek Valley cooler than surrounding areas all summer long. The woods around the stream draw American redstarts, song sparrows, cedar waxwings and woodpeckers. The Acadian flycatcher, an unusual bird in Minnesota, is regularly reported.
Eight miles of hiking trails offer excellent vistas.
The park has 48 campsites, a picnic shelter and a camper cabin.
