The White Pine Trail is Michigan’s longest rail trail stretching a distance of just under 100 miles on the former Grand Rapids and Indiana rail bed. The trail reaches from Cadillac to Comstock Park.

The trail is surfaced with asphalt pavement from Comstock Park at the north end of Grand Rapids to Russell Road, just south of Cedar Springs; a distance of 13 miles. There is also a 13-mile section of asphalt pavement between Big Rapids and Reed City. The northernmost mile of the trail in Cadillac is also paved.

The trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. The nothern 78.5 miles is open to snowmobilers.

The trail winds through many different kinds of habitat — farmlands, lowlands, swamps and woods. There are great opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife in these unique ecosystems.

The trail also offers views of the scenic Muskegon and Rogue rivers and there are several fishing opportunities along the trail.

Trailside camping is available at Paris Park. Other campgrounds are located within five to seven miles of the trail.
