Highland State Recreation Area offers abundant recreation opportunities on several lakes and along miles of trails.
Hikers and cross-country skiers explore 19 miles of footpaths that snake through the 546 acres of lush forest in the Haven Hill Natural Area. More strenuous hikes lead to the summits of Mount Omich (1,140 feet), Mount Kanzer (1,160 feet) and Beaumont Overlook (1,090 feet).
Some trails are open to equestrians and mountain bicyclists.
Bluegill, bass, crappie and pike are taken from the lakes. Boat launches can be found at Lower Pettibone, Moore, Alderman and Teeple lakes. Teeple also has a beach.
