At 20,000 acres, Waterloo is the largest park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, boasting 21 lakes and 47 miles of trails.
Foot trails total more than 36 miles and range in length from the half-mile Dry Marsh Trail at Portage Lake Unit to the 23-mile Waterloo-Pinckney Trail.
Equestrians ride on 25 miles of bridle trails and have access to the Horsemen's Campground, which is equipped with hitching posts. Cross-country skiers use seven miles of trails, and mountain bikers ride on five miles of trails.
Bass, panfish and pike are taken from the lakes, which are scattered throughout the recreation area. Waterskiing takes place on Big Portage Lake.
The Discovery Center displays local cultural and natural history displays, as well as interactive geology exhibits.
