Tucked between the shores of Muskallonge Lake and Lake Superior, this park is best known for nearby forests, lakes and streams.
Rock hunters frequent the Lake Superior shoreline in search of agates.
The park is traversed by the North County pathway, with short feeder trails linking the park campground to the pathway.
Muskallonge Lake provides anglers with an excellent opportunity to catch a variety of fish, including northern pike, muskallonge, smallmouth bass, walleye and perch. Lake Superior boasts populations of trout, salmon and menominee, especially near the river mouths.
Visitors are treated to 156 modern campsites, picnicking, hiking, swimming, a boat launch for fishing and boating.
Camping facilities are open from April 15 to Nov. 15. While the park is closed in winter, many people use the area for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Muskallonge Lake is a popular destination for ice fishermen as well.
