Ten-mile-long Sebec Lake is the main attraction at Peaks-Kenny State Park, which embraces the lake's South Cove and surrounding woods.
The lake is good for togue and salmon fishing. Canoeists can bring their own boats to the park or rent one of the park's canoes. Though there is no launch for larger craft within the park, a public ramp sits at the end of Route 153 ("Greeley's Landing") near the park access road.
There is also a guarded sand beach in the park for swimming and sunning.
There are also nine miles of hiking trails through mature hardwood forest. Birch Mountain borders the park's southwest corner.
Located six miles north of Dover-Foxcroft, 839-acre Peaks-Kenny is popular for both day and overnight use. The 56 campsites, well-dispersed in the woods, are unusually private.
Camping is on a first-come, first-served basis from season opening until mid-June, and thereafter by reservation.
The park's winter phone number is 207-941-4014.
