Jimmie Davis State Park on Caney Lake is considered one of Louisiana's premier trophy bass-fishing lakes. Nine of the state's top 10 bass were caught in these waters.

Covering a peninsula in this grand lake, the park offers two boat launches and a fishing pier.

Waterskiing is another way to enjoy the clear waters of the lake, which was created by the damming of Caney Creek in 1986.

The park offers 73 camping sites, each equipped with a table, tent pad and fire ring. New overnight accommodations include 17 two-bedroom cabins, two four-bedroom lodges and a group camp that can house 120 guests.

A sandy beach on the lakeshore is perfect for sunning, swimming, building sandcastles or just relaxing on a raft.

Cyclists use the park as a starting point for treks into the hills of northern Louisiana. Nature lovers explore the wooded land and lakefront.

A wide variety of birds that live or pass through the area.

The park is located east of Jonesboro, off LA 4. From Jonesboro, take LA 4 east 12.8 miles to Lakeshore Drive, which leads to State Road 1209, approximately 20 minutes away.
