Located just eight miles northeast of Louisville, the 554-acre E.P. "Tom" Sawyer provides a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities.
Its bicycle track is considered one of the nation's most challenging. Summer aquatics programs are held in the Olympic-sized swimming pool, and teams play a variety of sports on playing fields and in the only gymnasium in the Kentucky State Parks system.
A one-mile crushed limestone fitness trail is outfitted with a cluster of 10 exercise stations. More leisurely exercise can be pursued on the 1.25-mile nature trail that follows Goose Creek. This trail is used by park naturalists who lead bird watching walks.
