Man-made Lake Cumberland, covering 50,000 acres, is said to offer some of the best fishing and boating in the East. This resort park, located on the north side of the lake, serves water recreationists with a 250-slip marina and boat rentals.
Largemouth, smallmouth, striped and Kentucky bass, walleye and crappie inhabit the lake. There is no beach, but the park has indoor and outdoor pools.
Shore activities include hiking on shore trails. The three interconnecting paths offer easy walks. Explorers may be rewarded with glimpses of deer, fox and raccoons and learn more about the park's flora and fauna at the nature center.
Birdwatching is excellent, and park naturalists lead frequent birding programs.
A stable offers guided horseback rides, typically lasting about an hour. Bicycling is permitted on park roadways.
Resort facilities include a lodge and cottages, 147 seasonal campsites, a disc and miniature golf.
