Ringed by rocked walls that stretch into 100-foot cliffs and sandstone bluffs, Lake Malone appeals to nature lovers, birders, fishermen and boaters. Many people come just to see its natural bridge.
A mile-and-a-half hiking trail winds through a forest of pines, hardwood trees, mountain laurel, holly and wildflowers. Hikers may encounter deer, raccoons and wild turkeys.
Anglers fish for channel catfish, bluegill, crappie and big mouth and rock bass in the 788-acre Lake Malone. There's a sandy beach for swimming and a bath house.
A seasonal campground has 25 sites with hot showers and other amenities. A primitive campground for tents has over 100 sites and is open April 1-November 15.
