Kentucky's first state park is a mountaintop resort on 1,519 rugged acres overlooking the valleys of the Kentucky Ridge State Forest.
A highlight of the park's calendar is a festival, held the last weekend of every May at a forest amphitheater, celebrating the blooming of the mountain laurel.
Year-round natural attractions include interpretive programs, hiking on 8.5 miles of trails.
Off-road biking is not permitted, but some cyclists enjoy the challenge of the scenic mountainous road through the park. Golfers can test their game at the new 18-hole championship golf course, Wasioto Winds.
