Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park skirts the northern edge of the Redbird Purchase Unit in the Daniel Boone National Forest. The park offers water sports, hiking and great scenery.
The park's marina, open April through October, has 95 slips, two launching ramps, rental pontoon boats and fishing boats. The lake is home to largemouth and Kentucky bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish and muskie.
Hikers explore the Buckhorn Lake area along an easy 1.5-mile, self-guiding trail.
The public beach has a bathhouse, which is open Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball, horseshoes and miniature golf satisfy the need for friendly competition. Daily summer activities and special events year-round are available for children and adults.
Year-round accommodations include Buckhorn Lodge and three cottages with tableware, cooking utensils and linens provided.
