Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, located deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, is accented by scenic Dewey Lake.
Named for a brave pioneer woman, Jenny Wiley Resort Park is a polished mountain retreat. Visitors enjoy a variety of activities, from Broadway shows in the theater to wilderness hiking to golfing with mountain vistas.
Summer musicals are performed in the amphitheater, and the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonburg is home of the Kentucky Opry and year-round performing arts.
Ride the sky-lift to the top of Sugar Camp Mountain or admire the natural beauty of the park on 10 miles of easy to medium trails. There is also a three-mile mountain bike trail.
The interpretive center has displays of coal mining and details the park's plants and wildlife.
Dewey Lake offers great fishing and boating opportunities.
Overnight visitors can choose from the secluded beauty of the May Lodge or one- or two-bedroom housekeeping cottages.
More than 100 campsites with utility hookups are open from April 1 to Oct. 31.
