The Fall River's 12-mile canoe trail provides six to eight hours of paddling, which attracts canoeists to Fall River State Park's facilities at Quarry Bay, Fredonia Bay and South Rock.
Depending on how ambitious they are, paddlers camp in designated sites in the 8,632-acre wildlife area or in the state park. Canoes can be rented in Eureka.
The river also draws anglers who try their luck during the spring white bass run. Crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, flatheads and channel catfish are caught in the 2,500-acre lake. The lake is also popular with swimmers, pleasure boaters and water-skiers.
Hunters pursue prairie chicken, deer, turkey, dove, quail, rabbit and squirrel in the wildlife area.
Exceptional scenic spots can be found in the 900-acre park, tucked between the cross-timbered Chautauqua Hills to the east and the grasslands of the Flint Hills to the west.
Facilities include a beach, boat ramps and developed and undeveloped campsites. Park roads offer several miles of cycling.
