High bluffs and wooded shoreline surround the clear water of the Clinton Reservoir, a favorite fishing destination.
The reservoir stretches eight miles up the Wakarusa River and covers 7,000 acres.
The area is used for boating, fishing and hiking and has a developed day-use area with full-service marina and archery range. Mountain bikers can challenge themselves on the new technical obstacle course.
The surrounding public lands offer excellent hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and bird-watching, as well as upland and waterfowl hunting.
Deer and squirrel thrive in the woodlands. Bow hunting is restricted to wildlife areas on the north and south sides of the reservoir.
A refuge on the upper end of the Wakarusa River attracts migrating ducks and geese, many shorebirds and bald eagles.
