Kouchibouguac National Park offers an intricate blend of coastal and inland habitats where sand dunes, salt marshes, rivers, bogs, forests and fields all shape the landscape of this corner of Acadia.

The park visitor center offers in-depth interpretive programs and audio-visual presentations.

Lagoons, salt marshes and dunes mark the terrain of Kouchibouguac (Koosh-e-boo-gwack) National Park.

Skirting Canada's warmest ocean waters, this is a place where the sea meets land and freshwater to create a unique ecosystem.

Several rivers flowing through the park inspired its Mi'kmaq name "River of the Long Tides."

This land was logged and farmed and its original forest of pine, beech and maple, is now dominated by spruce and fir.

Bird life is also an important part of the ecosystem of Kouchibouguac. Tern Islands, a bird sanctuary, hosts one of the largest colonies of tern in North America.

The annual population of birds can range as high as 25,000. More than 225 species of birds have been recorded in the park, including piping plovers, an endangered species.
