Winchester Lake State Park surrounds a 103-acre lake nestled in a forested area at the foot of the Craig Mountains, just off U.S. Hwy. 95 near Winchester.
The park offers year-round recreation activities and has a modern campground and four yurts for rent. Picnicking, hiking and fishing are popular summer activities.
Visitors can also watch wolves at the nearby Wolf Education and Research Center.
In winter, enjoy ice fishing, ice skating and cross-country skiing. The 3.5 miles of beautiful trails run through flat and rolling terrain, which is excellent for beginner and intermediate skiers.
The park is within a 90-minute drive of Salmon River rafting and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Backpacking.
