Sweetwater Creek is a peaceful tract of wilderness just minutes from bustling downtown Atlanta.
The 2,500-acre park features a variety of natural and cultural resources, including the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a Civil War-era textile mill.
Nine miles of trails, shaded streams and the George Sparks Reservoir make this park a popular recreation destination.
There are three fishing docks, canoe and boat rentals, picnic shelters, playgrounds and educational programs.
Not far from the park are John Tanner State Park, Pickett’s Mill Battlefield State Historic Site and Lithia Pure Water Springs.
To reach the park from Atlanta, take I-20 west to Exit 44, and follow signs to the park. There is a parking fee.
